Lost or Stolen Passport Holding a Valid Visa
 

If your passport containing a U.S. visa and is lost or stolen, please report this right away to the Embassy, as explained below:

  • File a report with the police in the jurisdiction where the passport was lost or stolen.
  • Send us an E-Mail message to: consularcaracas@state.gov along with the police report and indicating the following:
  • Last and first names as they appeared on your passport.
  • Date of birth
  • National Identification Number or (Cédula de Identidad).
  • The number of the passport that was lost or stolen.
  • A detailed explanation including the date of the incident.
  • Your contact information: Phone Numbers and E-Mail Address.

As soon as we received this information, your visa will be automatically cancelled and void, therefore if you wish to travel to the United States, you must apply for a new visa.

Please be advised that this process is definitive and cannot be reversed under any circumstance.

Traveling to the United States with a visa or passport that has been previously reported as lost or stolen may carry serious legal consequences and intervention by immigration authorities at the port of entry.

In light of the aforementioned, applicants are advised to be completely sure the documents are irrevocably lost before filing a report.
