This web site (http://usinfo.state.gov/dhr/democracy/elections.html), produced by the International Information Programs of the US Department of State, provides resources explaining the primary and caucus system, highlighting the candidates, and providing other elections-related material, including photo galleries, audio clips, article alerts, and links to other elections web sites. These materials are designed to address those aspects of the 2004 elections that are of most interest, or greatest confusion, to international audiences.

This newsletter provides non-partisan coverage of the U.S. election process, featuring articles, interviews, public opinion polls, and other information on the presidential primaries, debates, conventions, and campaign activities of the major presidential candidates. It is available at:

This publication provides an introductory overview of the American electoral process for people who are not familiar with U.S. election practices and traditions. Federal Voting Assistance Program

This web site provides information to US citizens covered by the Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act (UOCAVA). If you are not a UOCAVA citizen, and wish to vote absentee as a regular state voter, please follow the link to State Election Sites. Voting News Releases:

On Tuesday, March 17, 2004, there will be a special election in the Kentucky 6th Congressional District to fill the seat vacated by Congressman Ernest (Ernie) Lee Fletcher who has been elected Governor. All members of the U.S. Uniformed Services, their family members and citizens residing outside the U.S. who are Kentucky residents from the 6th District should request a ballot for this special election by completing and submitting a Federal Post Card Application (FPCA), SF-76, as soon as possible, if you have not done so already in calendar year 2004. Elections 2004 for Younger Audiences

Reaching the younger audiences. This site is interactive - it gives background about the US system, process, profiles of the candidates, kids can take on-site quizzes and vote! This link will be on the Agency official Election 2004 website. It is only available in English.
