Information Resource Center (IRC)

The Information Resource Center (IRC) Caracas aims to serve those who, for professional or academic reasons, need information about the United States in areas such as domestic and foreign policy; political and legislative developments; defense and security matters; environmental issues; economic development; and social and cultural issues.

The Information Resource Center's experienced staff can provide detailed information, or assist in identifying appropriate sources of information to contact in the U.S.

The Information Resource Center is not open to the general public. Journalists, academics, government officials and other serious researchers wishing to take advantage of the Information Resource Center resources should first make an appointment by telephone through the number (0212) 975.6411, one day in advance

The IRC's visitor hours are: 10:00-12:00 and 2:00-4:00, Tuesday to Thursday, excluding United States and Venezuelan holidays.

— How to Request Information —


Journalists, government and non-government organizations, cultural representatives, academics, etc. are encouraged to send their inquiries by fax: (212) 9759429 or e-mail at caracasirc@state.gov addressed to the Information Resource Center. Please include your name, organization, fax and/or e-mail and telephone numbers, and area of research interest, to help us respond to your request. By previous appointment, researchers should call one or more days previous to the visit that will be Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday from 10:00 to 12:00 and 2:00 to 4:00


Note: we will not answer inquiries about visas, immigration, and citizenship matters. All such inquiries must be referred to the Consular Section.
