Fulbright in Brief

Fulbright is an International educational exchange program:

Established by Congress in 1946 under legislation introduced by the Senator J. William Fulbright, created to increase mutual understanding and peaceful relations between the people of the United States and the people of other countries, administered by the U.S. Government in cooperation with 130 countries around the world, more than half of which share in the costs of the program, emphasizes academic and professional excelence with awards based on open competition, operates as a public/private partnership, counts some 200,000 individuals as Fulbright alumni, over 90,000 from the United States and 120,000 from abroad, and hundreds of thousands more who have participated in related programs. In Venezuela around 400 persons had participated in this program.
