American Corner Lechería

The American Corner in Lechería is a partnership between Urbaneja municipal government and the U.S. Embassy. It was Innaugurated on november 23, 2006, by the Ambassador of the United States in Venezuela, William R. Brownfield.

It is located in the headquarters building of the Municipality in the social services section along with the Municipal Council for Children and Adolescents' rights, the Council for the Protection of Children and Adolescents, the Municipal Defense Council for Children and Adolescents, the Directorate for Social Welfare and the Directorate of Education and Culture.

The function of the American Corner in Lechería is to be the center for study and information. The Corner offers books written by a great variety of American authors and free Internet access for local individuals interested in learning. It provides current news about the United States and it also hosts events and activities that feature the American culture. The fundamental task of the American Corner is to provide the general public with access to information on the United States of America.
