Youth Ambassadors Depart for Three-Week Exchange Program in the U.S.
Charge d'Affaires Kelly Keiderling with Youth Ambassadors at CVA Las Mercedes
On September 19, Chargé d’Affaires Kelly Keiderling attended a departure ceremony for a group of five Youth Ambassadors to wish them luck and success in their participation in this prestigious exchange program.
The U.S. Embassy’s Youth Ambassadors Program enables overseas high school students, educators and youth leaders the opportunity to experience the United States first-hand and to broaden their understanding of U.S. culture, education and society while promoting mutual understanding between the people of the Americas.
While in the United States, the Youth Ambassadors will visit Washington, D.C. and Johnson City, Tennessee. In Washington they will visit the city’s famous monuments and museums and have the opportunity to meet with a wide range of government, business and educational leaders. In Tennessee they will live with American host families, attend a local public school and participate in community service-learning projects and activities geared to expose participants to American culture and the U.S. democratic values and institutions.
