The Immigrant Visa Unit is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. through 12:00 p.m.  Note that the Unit is not open on American or Venezuelan holidays.

We provide all services by appointment only and no longer accept any unscheduled “walk-in” inquiries.

United States Citizens may consult the hours and services offered by the American Citizen Services (ACS) unit. In some cases, the ACS unit will refer United States Citizens to the Immigrant Visa Unit for additional services.

Scheduling an Appointment

Most visa interview appointments are scheduled by the National Visa Center once an application is deemed interview ready and forwarded to the Embassy.

To schedule an appointment for other services or to reschedule an interview with the Immigrant Visa Unit, please e-mail ImmigrantCaracas@state.gov.

If you have already filed a Petition at the Embassy, please include the complete name and date of birth of the immigrant visa applicant, and case number if available.

The unit will respond to all inquiries within five business days.  Please make sure that your personal firewall and/or spam filter does not block responses from our state.gov domain.  Many questions can be answered simply by consulting the USCIS web site or the Department of State Travel website, so please consult these websites prior to sending your questions.

If your case requires expediting due to a medical emergency, please write “MEDICAL EMERGENCY” in the subject line of your e-mail.

221(g):  If you have already had a personal interview at the U.S. Embassy for your immigrant visa and were instructed to return with additional documents, you do not need to schedule another interview unless the interviewing officer so instructed.  You can simply return to the Embassy with the letter you received at the interview, along with your passport and requested documents at the dates and times specified in the letter.

Applicants for immigrant visas should not use the Call Center telephone number used to schedule appointments for non-immigrant/tourist visas.  All appointments with the Immigrant Visa Unit are arranged directly via e-mail at no charge.
