Review of Loss of Nationality
 

For applicants who have lost their U.S. citizenship and would like to have their loss of nationality reviewed, all the documentation pertaining to the loss (including the Certificate of Loss of Nationality (CLN) approved by the Department of State) must be provided along with old U.S passports (if available) and a valid passport from the other country of citizenship. Inquirers should include information regarding their intention to relinquish U.S. citizenship at the time of the commission of the expatriating act and the voluntariness of the expatriating act.

The applicant must submit a written request to review the loss/renunciation of his/her U.S. citizenship addressed to:

Please make sure to include in your letter:

  • Full name (current name as well as any other name you may have used in the past).
  • Place and date of birth.
  • Address and daytime phone numbers where you can be reached.
  • Reason to request a review of the loss/renunciation of your citizenship.
  • Explain the reasons/circumstances of the loss of citizenship. 

This letter MUST be in English.
