Information for Dual Nationals

In the same way that U.S. law requires all U.S. citizens to enter and leave the United States using U.S. travel documents, no matter how many nationalities a U.S. citizen may hold, Venezuelan law requires that Venezuelan citizens enter and leave Venezuela using Venezuelan documents.

Venezuelan citizens who naturalize as U.S.citizens do not automatically lose their Venezuelan citizenship. Such persons, therefore, should plan to travel between the two countries using two passports in order to fully comply with each country’s law. This subject is addressed in the Department of State's Consular Information Sheet for Venezuela, a link to which is attached below.

Please monitor the Department of State's travel website for additional announcements and register your travel there should you decide to visit Venezuela.
